Support The Academy

Why Support?

Supporting the academy helps build a skilled workforce essential to Scotland’s infrastructure development. By investing in the academy, you contribute to a programme that not only equips students with practical knowledge but also prepares them to meet the evolving challenges of the civil engineering sector. Your support helps ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of Scotland’s infrastructure.

Types of Support

  • Industry Engagement Days: Employers can support these by either hosting students on a planned site visit or by arranging for relevant staff to visit the training sites. These sessions offer a valuable platform to share industry insights, provide an overview of your company, and outline recruitment processes.
  • Site Setup and Signage Support: The centres continue to require assistance in setting up training sites and providing appropriate signage. This presents an excellent opportunity for employers to engage directly with the centres, fostering relationships with both staff and students.
  • Collaborating on College Units or Industry Challenges: There is also the opportunity for company personnel to work directly with candidates on their college units or through industry-related challenge activities aligned with their coursework. This hands-on involvement helps contextualise learning while providing students with real-world industry experience.
  • Material Donations: We would also greatly value donations of materials to support practical training. Items such as ballast, pea gravel, Type 2 mix, cement, slabs, timber for shuttering, setting-out pegs, drainage pipes and fittings, and other construction-related materials are always appreciated. Such contributions play a crucial role in ensuring students have the resources needed for hands-on learning.

Benefits of Supporting

  • Strengthen Scotland’s workforce by addressing the skills gap in civil engineering.
  • Build your company’s reputation as a leader in community and industry development.
  • Establish a direct connection with a pipeline of well-trained, employment-ready candidates.
  • Foster innovation and sustainability by supporting the next generation of civil engineers.
